The Bhutan Laya Gasa trek is an 18-day journey that explores the magnificent border with Tibet in northern Bhutan. The Gasa hike leads towards the northwest side of the stunning Paro, offering a diverse range of landscapes from lush green forests to cultivated valleys and forest hills. The trek is an opportunity to learn about the unique culture and lifestyle of the Upper Himalayan nomads of rural Bhutan.

The trek showcases the beauty of Himalayan peaks like Jitchu Drake (6,662m) and Jhomolhari (7,326m). Starting from Paro, the trek passes through Shana, following the Paro river, and the Panchu river before reaching the base camp of Jomolhari at Jangothang. The trek then passes through Nyelela Pass and Lingshi before continuing to Chebisa, a dramatic valley with the beautiful Shangri La village.

After passing through the rhododendron forests and ascending to the Gokula Pass (4,320m), the trek descends to the Gasa valley, passing through forest covered with moss and arriving at the ancient Dzong City. A visit to Punakha Dzong, built in 1637 by the Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, is followed by the Lungchutse trek, which starts from Dochula and ends at Hongtsho village. The trek offers a breathtaking view of Thimphu and includes visits to the National Postal Museum and other great sightseeing spots in Thimphu.
